ive been watching the games of thrones series. I have read the books years ago yet I can't recall
most of the scenes. There are several that I still do remember (such as the Red Wedding) but not everything. I only recall those that I really liked best. This might be normal unless one has a very vivid photographic memory. I know my memory has not been very great recently ( for one I always have difficulty remembering names of people I've known and spent a lot of time with in the past). There are also several other books and even movies that I know I've read/watched yet I can't remember the
plot. (Thak you WIKI for the summaries). But this makes me think, why read at all if you won't be
able to remember the stories after a while. Well, I might have forgotten the entire plot but the effect reading those stories at that time
had for me remains. It's not the stories themeselves that are important but how those stories
affected me. I have not reread books that I've already read before but I am sure that if I did,
it wil affect me again differently freshly. There will always be something new. TOo bad i do no
thave the luxury of time in rereading stories. I have a pile waiting to be read.
This past 3 weeks I've read Hunger Games 1 and Night Circus. I loved both. Thanks to Mich and
Marj's recommendations. Night Circus is a fantasy story about two mages competing against each
other but fall in love instead. It shows magic not as an illusion but as the reality of the
world, it's just that people don't take notice of it. I liked it coz it's different from all the
other magic books in that it gives a more realistic fantastical feel to it. HP for example feels
very other wordly and distant from normal people (muggles). I loved hunger games too as it is
differnt frm the usual battle royale type of story. It's not just a story of survival but also of
political cultural and personal diffrences.
